How it works

Up and running in three steps

One installer sets up the panel and connects the Claude Code you already use. Then you just ask.

  1. Step 01

    Install

    Download the zip for your system, unzip it and double-click Install Motion Studio. It sets up the panel and connects Claude Code.

  2. Step 02

    Open the panel

    In After Effects, choose Window › Extensions › Motion Studio. Dock it wherever you like.

  3. Step 03

    Ask Claude

    Type what you want in the Chat tab, the way you'd brief an animator, and watch each step as it happens.

Install guide

What you need first
  • Adobe After Effects 2022 or newer.
  • A Claude account with a paid plan (Pro or Max).
  • Node.js, free: nodejs.org › download the LTS version › install it like any app.
  • Claude Code, free. You don’t need to do anything: the installer offers to add it for you.
  • Reference tools, free (about 250 MB): video and images from any link (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Behance, Dribbble…), frames, any format, and Claude’s own browser you watch live. The installer or the panel adds them, and they keep themselves up to date.
  1. DownloadPress Download for Windows. You get Motion-Studio-Windows.zip.
  2. UnzipRight-click the zip › Extract All › Extract. Open the Motion Studio folder.
  3. InstallDouble-click Install Motion Studio. If Windows shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” box: More info › Run anyway.
  4. Claude CodeIf it asks “Install Claude Code now?”, press Enter. Wait for Done. Motion Studio is installed.
  5. Open the panelQuit After Effects completely and open it again. Then Window › Extensions › Motion Studio.
  6. Connect ClaudeIn the panel press Connect Claude. Claude’s sign-in page opens: choose your account, press Authorize, paste the code back in the panel. Done.

Is it safe? Everything installs only in your own user folders, with no admin password. Your Claude sign-in happens on Claude’s own page; Motion Studio never sees or stores it. To remove everything, run Uninstall Motion Studio from the same folder. Updates come to you: when a new version is out, the panel tells you and installs it with one click (every update is signed, so only real Motion Studio updates are accepted).

01What does it cost?

Motion Studio is free. Claude’s work runs on your own Claude Code and Claude plan, like any other Claude Code session. There’s no API key to add, and Motion Studio charges nothing extra per message.

02Is it safe to let Claude edit my project?

Claude can change only the project you protect; any other project you open stays read-only to it. Pause stops Claude instantly, Undo and Redo step through its changes, and Save writes to the same file. The chat in the panel doesn’t run shell commands on your computer.

03Does it work on Windows and Mac?

Yes. There’s a download for each: a zip for Windows and a zip for macOS. Unzip it and double-click Install Motion Studio. Both need Node.js and Claude Code; you connect your Claude account inside the panel with one button. On a Mac, open the installer the first time with right-click › Open.

04Which versions of After Effects?

After Effects 2022 or later. Once installed, open it from Window › Extensions › Motion Studio.

05Is my project sent anywhere?

To do the work, details of your project, such as comps, layers, their settings and preview frames, are sent to Claude, made by Anthropic. Before using it on confidential client work, check your Claude plan’s data policy.
